The finale begins with a caste-based joke in a course group and an accent mocked in a lab. Responses move beyond private reassurance: harmful behaviour is named, participation is redesigned and a route to support is used. The campus writes its changes onto one signed page. Care becomes something that can survive the departure of a particularly attentive teacher.

Silence can leave the targeted person feeling abandoned; a safe, clear response communicates that the behaviour is unacceptable. Assign groups deliberately and rotate meaningful roles so that the same students are not repeatedly excluded or left silent. It creates an explicit opportunity for different members to enter the discussion, supported by a norm against mocking accents.
Write the procedure, assign responsibility and make the route visible, so it does not depend on one person remembering. Individual conversations work alongside changes to rules, access, supervision and grievance processes that support belonging.
In practice: State one inclusion norm aloud in your class or lab and document one institutional change with a person responsible for maintaining it.

Which improvement would disappear if you left next semester, and how could it become part of the institution?
