# Taking Initiatives: Highlights

1. Fear of failure can keep a useful suggestion from becoming a proposal that others can test.
2. Subjective fears concern judgement or imagined outcomes. Objective concerns point to real constraints.
3. Compare the cost of delay or silence with the risk of taking action.
4. Fear-setting names the worst case, ways to prevent it and a repair plan if it occurs.
5. A two-course pilot can turn a high-stakes overhaul into a limited experiment.
6. Consultation, careful language and reframing can improve an idea while preserving its purpose.
7. When organisational readiness is low, pause and revise the plan. Initiative includes judgement about timing.
8. End with one Stop–Start–Continue–Change commitment you can put into practice.
