# Spring Semester 11: Block C Has No Water

**Resource person:** GuruSetu - An animated series for teachers in Indian higher education

## Summary

A dry hostel block becomes an exam problem when students cannot sleep or wash. A dated log gives the grievance committee evidence it can act on. Meanwhile, Lata needs both an accessible laboratory bench and a searchable manual. Listening to the student changes the solution. Complaint numbers and written replies make institutional follow-through visible.

Record dates, times, affected places and relevant observations consistently, without collecting unnecessary private information about students. The person using the space knows barriers that an observer may miss, including the accessibility of learning materials. A searchable document with headings and descriptions of diagrams can work better than an image-only scanned photocopy.

It lets the student and the institution trace receipt, responsibility, responses and follow-up instead of relying on memory. It may indicate that students now expect a response; complaint counts alone do not show whether conditions are improving.

In practice: Identify the grievance committee and ombudsperson, log one facilities issue with a date, and check that the complainant receives a response.
