# Spring Semester 08: Detained: Highlights

**Resource person:** GuruSetu - An animated series for teachers in Indian higher education

1. Send it early and privately, with the student’s situation, the deadline, a named contact and a realistic way to recover.
2. Students may know the threshold without knowing their current position, how to request help or when an appeal closes.
3. Specify essential learning and manageable tasks, with clear timing, rather than expecting an overwhelming amount of make-up work.
4. Family circumstances can be part of the difficulty; discuss consent, safety and applicable duties before involving relatives.
5. Read the actual order and its scope; a ruling about law colleges is not automatically a rule for every institution.
