# Spring Semester 05: Location: Always On

**Resource person:** GuruSetu - An animated series for teachers in Indian higher education

## Summary

Meera initially describes constant location checks as care. Tanvi notices the cost: interrupted study, lost sleep and isolation from a lab partner. A parallel scene with Sahil shows that controlling behaviour is not confined to one gender. Farah helps Meera think through safety and options at her own pace, rather than turning disclosure into an investigation.

Care allows choice and refusal; control demands passwords, constant proof of location or restrictions on other relationships. Tanvi asks whether she feels free to say no, and accepts that an answer may take time. Listen, believe the student, avoid blame, ask what they need, consider safety and explain appropriate support options.

Looking through private messages or questioning the other person can violate privacy, increase risk and exceed the teacher’s role. A controlling person may react to lost access; a trained support service can help the student plan changes and support safely.

In practice: Learn the campus support and complaints routes for relationship abuse, and practise explaining options without taking over the student’s decisions.
