# Reading the NEP 10: Skills, Vocations and the Professions: Highlights

**Resource person:** GuruSetu - An animated series for teachers in Indian higher education

1. Useful learning connects disciplinary knowledge with real practices, partners and tasks available to the students.
2. It seeks to overcome the treatment of vocational education as inferior and to recognise the dignity of labour.
3. Students and partners need to know what learning is expected and what evidence, such as a logbook or presentation, will show it.
4. Professional questions can draw on social, scientific, linguistic and ethical knowledge beyond the immediate specialty.
5. A count of participants is not a proportion of all learners, and neither alone establishes the quality of their experience.
