# Fostering Student Agency & Leveraging AI: Highlights

1. Offer a limited menu of assignments so students can choose a route to the same target.
2. Vary the format and demand across recall, writing, programming, demonstration, research, and teamwork.
3. Publish criteria for every option and judge each task against the evidence it should produce.
4. Begin with two or three choices. Track student uptake and marking load before expanding.
5. Ask students to solve a problem first, then compare several AI responses with an authoritative solution.
6. Require a record of tools, prompt changes, discrepancies, criteria, and the final recommendation.
7. Verify agreement between AI systems with disciplinary knowledge and evidence.
8. Use marks to support learning, visible reasoning, and accountable decisions.
