1. Notice the emotional state you bring into class before it affects an interaction.
2. For self-regulation, name the feeling, pause, and respond deliberately.
3. Reconnect routine work to purpose, and take fatigue or the need for rest seriously.
4. Before judging a student’s behaviour, ask what part of the story may be missing.
5. Keep empathy, academic standards, and personal boundaries in place at the same time.
6. Give respectful corrective feedback.
7. In a difficult conversation, summarise the other person’s view before stating your own.
8. Emotional intelligence supports accountability through disagreement and high expectations.
